Reese Witherspoon, born Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon, is a modern visionary because of her expansive resume and accomplishments. Reese grew up in Nashville, attending a private all-girls high school then studied literature at Stanford University. Witherspoon began acting at the age of 14 as an extra in The Man in the Moon and pursued acting ever since. After appearing in many minor films, Reese’s career broke through in her performance as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. In 1999 Reese married actor Ryan Philipe and had two children. Reese continued her success in acting, winning Academy Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTA, specifically for her role in Walk the Line.
Behind the screen, Witherspoon has began her own business and production company, Pacific Standard. She is an active philanthropist, women’s rights activist, including many other movements. Charities she supports include UNICEF, Stand Up To Cancer, among many more. In a Facebook post, Witherspoon shows her support of diversity, criticizing Oscar nominations. Most recently, Witherspoon has launched her own line of clothing based on her southern-classic style, Draper James.
